Back in 1989...

Rivendell Distribution and Sod Farm, Inc. was a family-owned business in the heart of Spring Valley near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We began in 1989 with the goal of producing a top-quality bluegrass sod that would thrive in the arid, mountainous areas of the Western Slope. Over the last 32 years, we saw a need to provide our customers with a few specialized fertilizers and amendments to optimize their specific landscaping endeavors. Quickly, Rivendell discovered from our initial product offerings to landscapers, growers, and family nurseries of the Western Slope were sorely underserved.

In 2012, Jared Kerst took over the operation and dedicated his time over the following decades to improve on the property infrastructure and performance of Bluegrass Sod production. With the focus switching to wholistic management of the overall grounds, Rivendell diversified to wholesale distribution and strived to provide the Roaring Fork Valley with the best brands and products in the Industry. The wholesale business started and continues to develop to better meet the needs of our unique mountain markets, and its committed to providing expert assistance and superior products to our customers.

Lately in 2021, Jared decided it was time to pass Rivendell on to John Rischmiller, who has continued to support and promote the Valley’s landscape contractors, nursery/garden centers, and municipality/golf courses. As one of the only wholesale distributor fully dedicated to serving Colorado’s Western Slope, we are excited to offer products from over 40+ vendors to the region's horticultural and landscape professionals. Rivendell has special sales programs tailored to landscape contractors, nursery/garden centers, and municipality/golf courses.  With our full-time sales staff and dedicated fleet of specialized delivery trucks with on-board forklifts we know we can work together to meet your business objectives.
